Living life without insurance is risky, such as breaking your leg or getting a concussion. Having a proper health insurance policy is key to keeping yourself healthy, and these tips can help you get the most coverage for your money.

If you are currently employed, you can use the employee insurance provided by your job. If you are not yet 26, you can still be covered by your parents, or you can look into personal insurance plans too.

Health insurance companies tend to change the medications they cover, so make sure you read the fine print every time you re-enroll. If a medication you rely on daily is not covered anymore, find a new provider.

Do not volunteer any information when your potential medical insurance company. Only give them the questions they specifically ask you. If you volunteer extra information they will make a record of it, and may use it to raise your premiums, and could find a way to raise your rates or possibly deny you for coverage.

It doesn’t matter the type of insurance coverage you currently have, everyone will save money if they choose to get generic drugs when filling a prescription. There are a few instances that you won’t be able to get generics, but using them is no different than using the brand name, save the name.

If you are one of those people that does not go to the doctor too much, start an HSA (Health Savings Account). The money saved can be set aside in premiums and insurance deductibles goes into this account to be used for a premium.
